The India Story was launched in 2015 as a creative arts and design exposition. It brings together the country’s leading designers, brands, producers, master craftsmen, artists, performers, and leading culinary brands all under one roof in Swabhumi, Kolkata. The result is a new narrative formed for India by its creative community and one of the hippest cultural events in Kolkata.
With the event's return after a pandemic-hiatus, the theme we chose for them was 'Connects'. Over the course of the pandemic, we reflected on connections - with our roots, our culture, each other, our connections with music, food and ourselves. As we got out to face the "new normal", we wondered how we can 'connect' with these changes and embrace them. With a new world to face, laced with more challenges than we had known, art held us together. TIS Connects emerged as a way to highlight the key relationships between us and the world in the form of art, music, food, fashion, lifestyle and so much more, connecting people with art again.
An event of this nature is defined by people - the people who put it together, the people who participate in it and the people who attend it. So, we illustrated some - all of them having fun doing their own thing but also interacting with one another occasionally. The bold brand colours black and yellow were supported by a bright pink and purple so that each distinct offering of The India Story could be assigned its own colour. Each section was also assigned its own mascot.
We began with the media campaign for the event which included Instagram, newspaper advertisements, billboards and posters. Then, the visual language flowed into the print collaterals creates for the event and on-site signage to help the attendees navigate the expansive space.
